Public Open House 

Xcel Energy hosted a public open house on December 6, 2023, to provide information about our plans to build a better, cleaner energy future by taking steps to create a smarter and stronger energy grid in western Colorado for a more secure energy supply. We provided information about the project and discussed the benefits it will bring to the community. We also explained the permitting requirements, planned construction methods and what the transmission line will look like upon completion.

Virtual Town Hall

Xcel Energy hosted a virtual town hall on May 25, 2021, to provide information about the electric transmission line rebuild prior to the submittal of Location and Extent permit applications to Garfield County and City of Glenwood Springs. View a copy of the presentation in English or Spanish.

Coordination with Jurisdictions

Winter/spring 2024: In January 2024, the City of Glenwood Springs approved a Location and Extent permit application and a 1041 permit application for the project, and Garfield County approved a Location and Extent permit for the project. Additional land use permitting with Garfield County is anticipated to be complete in April 2024 . Find out more about current and future work planned for the project.  

Jan. 10, 2024: Xcel Energy secured approval from the Garfield County Planning Commission during the permit hearing for its Location & Extent permit application. View a copy of the hearing items here.
